Seniors--Sergeants ATTENTION! Twenty-six sergeants marched solemnly into the halls of AHB for their final year. Sgt. Norma Jean Adelhelm McCloud had withdrawn from our Division during the summer. Sgt. Maebelle Sharpe was transferred to AHS after a year's training in California. Sgt. Irene Holbrook was our only new member having been transferred from Coeburn, Virginia. Commanding officers were: Captain, Bonnie Biehl, First Lieutenant, Irvin Burnett, Second Lieutenant, Betty Jean Cunningham, Master Sergeant, Maebelle Sharpe, Lt. Colonel, Blythe Osborn. Sgt. Gentry withdrew from our Division the first half of the year and Sgt. McClain was transferred to Danville.- We have retained the same flower, colors, and motto for four years. Our first maneuver as Sergeants was a trip to Porter's Studio in Indianapolis. A Christmas program was presented for the entertain- ment of the regiment. After three long years of waiting, we were first for chow. The annual camp tourney again resulted disastrously for us--we were defeated this year by the 3rd Division. Sgt. Weekly and J. Jamison kept up the Morale of our Division by leading yells. - On April 16 we presented the play nMurder Mansionu. Sgts. J. Jamison, Weekly, Holbrook, Biehl, Burnett, Winks, Masten, Ellett, Sharpe, B. Jamison took part in the cast. The Farewell party was given April 30. Music was furnished by Jimmy Brown's Orchestra. M 7A reception in honor or the 4th Division was held ay . Sgt. Rumley is, the only member of our Division who has not had leave of absence from army duty for four years On the afternoon of May 9 the Baccalaureate sermon was delivered by Rev. Claude McClure of Greencastle, Dis- trict Superintendent of Methodist Churches. The Commencement Address was given by Rev. Howard Jenkins of Delphi.

Juniors--Corporals ' Entering the Junior year were twenty-seven members with two stripes, commonly called Corporals, occuping the seats in the hall. O There were three new Corporals, Marie Bassett, Esther Trump, and Peggy Winks. During the first train- ing period, Cpls. Marie Bassett and Maebelle Sharpe were transferred to other Army camps. 0 .Our ,officers were: lst Lieut., Billie Jamison, 2nd Lieut., Irvin Burnett, Sergeant, Norma Jean Adel- helmg Corporal, Jo Ann Jamison, major, Blythe Osborn. Our play, nDon't Take My Pennyn, was a huge suc- cess. Those taking part in it were: Cpls. J. The gymnasium was beautifully dec- orated in red and white. After games and dancing re- freshments were served in the canteen. 'During the year a triple trio was organized. Four corporals from our division were selected. They were: Cpls. J. Jamison, Weekly, Biehl, and B. Cunningham. Our Division was well represented in the Commercial contest at Central Normal College, at Danville with conf testants entered in three different events. Typing, Cpls. Winks, Biehl, and McClure, Bookkeeping, Cpl. West, and Shorthand, Cpl. B. Cunningham. On Hay 22 we gave the USO party in the gymnasium. The theme was NAn Old Fashioned Garden.N The gymnasium was divided into two parts by a stone roses and iris. A white gate with a provided an entrance from the dining wall covered with picturesque arch room to the dance floor. The music was furnished by Benbow's Swing Band.

SENICR FOUL On the good ship of A. H. S. Twenty-four Seniors have gained the test. - With diploma in ha d and a wave of farewell, They start out in life with a story to tell. The sea has been rough and at times, filled with fear, But these twenty-four Seniors stand up with a cheer-Q Here's to the school, may she always stand strong And lead other youths as the years go along. Miss Osborn, our leader for two years has been, And many the task she has helped us in. Lawrence Applegate you will recall, Is our Senior very tall. Bonnie Biehl, the President of our class, Is a sweet, energetic, and charming lass. Irvin Burnett who leads the yells, Over the teachers cast a spell. Andrew Cunningham, better known as HAndyU, At basketball playing is certainly a dandy. Betty Jean, always hard at work, Her duties, we know, she'll never shirk. On Clara Mae you can depend, To be a good and faithful friend. Of our class, Brice Ellett is one Who's known and liked by everyone, Doris Hathaway wears her heart on her sleeve, Hoping a certain soldier will soon be on leave. Bennie Heavin, a lad so true, On the ball team always comes thru. Irene Holbrook, a cute little blond, Of her the boys are really quite fond, You know that Billie is within call, When you hear that Texas drawl. lk Jo Ann Jamison, a pretty lass, Stops all the boys as they go past. Maurice Masten, better known as NMatH, Turns all the girls but one, down flat.
