GIRl. S Again this year, Girls' Sports was in full swing at A. Nl. H. S. By participating in the after school sports ac- tivities. tht- girls accumulate points which lead to winning awards. The Long Island Girls, Associa- tion sets up tht- points which are awarded for at- tendance. membership on a class team or honor team. acting as manager. or officiating. A girl may be awarded a numeral. shield, letter or Cold Key, according to thc number of points she has earned. A Gold Key is the highest award and 600 points earns the honor to receive it. All the sports arc divided by classes. The girls try to make the class team and then the honor team, which consists of the best girls from the SPORTS ti class teams. The honor teams compete against neighboring schools on Playdays. The fall season started off with hockey, archery, and tennis. In November. volleyball and bowling appeared: There was also tumbling for the freshman and sophomore classes. For the juniors and the seniors, there was modern dance. When the girls returned from Christmas vaca- tion, basketball came into the picture. What came in the beginning of March? Practice for Sportsnight. of course.
