Pearsall. Although the 56-57 basketball team was not as flashy as its 55-56 predecessor, it still made its weight felt in the A-1 league and gave sound beatings to two of the top teams in Nassau County. The Varsity Cagers were in contention for the A-1 crown right down to the last few games of the season by defeating league-leading Huntington. With three or four games left in the season Amityville was defeated in a hard fought contest with Bay Shore. The score at the final buzzer was 71-68. Though their season was not terrific by last year's standards, Coach Schmitt's var- sity squad was not without its individual stars, Bernie Wyatt and Frank Lomuscio, who were chosen among the top ten players in Suffolk County.
