November 1, 1956 when the call was issued for wrestling, over a hundred boys reported for practice. More than 60 were still on the squad at the end of the season. A total of 58 boys participated in the Varsity and J. V. competitions, 29 on Var- sity. The freshmen competed in two un- oflicial meets. The Varsity finished the season with a total of 16 wins and 2 losses. The J. V. won 20 and lost 1. The freshmen won both their meets, one against Bayshore and the other against Lindenhurst. The Varsity placed second in the Class A Suffolk County Tournament and the Long Island Tournament. A. M. H. S. was undefeated in Suffolk County in dual meet competition. Karl Anderson won the award presented by Mr. Kiltle at the County Tournament for being the most outstanding wrestler. Karl and Bill Scordamaglia won cham: pionships in both the Suffolk County and Long Island tourneys. Wayne Hunter won the Suffolk County Championship and placed second in the Long Island tourney. Kevin Carty, a junior, was elected hon- orary captain for the year. The Henry A. Kiltle award, which is donated each year by Bob DeBono, was awarded to Mike Spetko for showing the most improvement in wrestling during the past year. The wrestlers are grateful to Mr. Valla for his fine leadership. Mr. Goldstein was a tremendous help as assistant coach. Dr. Fallot also worked with the team this year and gave generously of his time and effort. Again, as in past years, Mr. Harvey, Mr. Rau, and Mr. Goodman gave their time and effort to making the County Tournament the success that it was. All in all this was a good year for the Amityville Squad. med quad X... Row I, Left to Right: Mr. Valla, M. Sammartano, G. Romer, T. Coburn, W. Scordamaglia, K. Anderson, P. Walker, C. Zimmermann, K.
