Behind the pitching of Charles Langen and Frank Lomuscio, the Amity 9 closed the season boast- ing a ll-4 won-lost record. Under the direction of Mr. Stimola, the team, after losing the last of three games in a row to Port Jefferson, came back with determination and sportsmanship to win the next ten out of eleven games with the loss again at the hands of Port Jefferson. As it turned out, the two losses to Port Jeff were to he the decid- ing factor, for the team wound up the season one game out of first place. Much praise must go to this fine team for the excellent job they did. Among those reporting were seven lettermen from last year. The hrst two scrimmages of the season against Kings Park showed Amityville had the making of a good team. October 25th, Amityville played its first league game at Smithtown. Amityville dented the nets by Lomuscio getting the tally with a sliding kick and Edwards on a loose ball. Smithtown made its only goal in the fourth quarter. ln the first home game Amityville beat West Islip 3-1. One of the hardest fought games of the season was against Central Islip, when Central Islip won by making the only goal of the game in the last minute of play. One of the highlights of the season was tying Bay Shore, county co-champions, after having been defeated by them the previous week. Bakhuizen and Lomuscio were elected co-cap- tains. Adams was chosen All-Suffolk right halfback. Shultis and Lomuscio made the All-Suffolk second team while Bakhuizen was given honorable men- tion. The season's record for the J.
