Goldstein went on to win the A-l Championship by win- ning all seven of its league games and its non- league game. The Crimson Tide of Amityville started its sensational season by beating River- head in its first game. Huntington was the next learn on the list to taste the sting of Amity's mighty running attack led by Bernie Wyatt. South Huntington gave Amityville a scare in the opening minutes of their game hy scoring on them first, hut after that it was practically all over for South Huntington. Bayshore was held svoreless as Amity went on to score 24 points. Une of the crucial games of the year was against Northport, whit-h saw the brilliant run- ning of Wyatt and good defensive work liy Al Amityville Opponents Riverhead 0 Huntington 7 South Huntington 6 Bayshore 0 Patvhogue 0 Northport 13 Port Jefferson 0 Lindenhurst 6 32 Chambers and Alex Moliley along with a good over all team effort. Port Jefferson, which had a great team, was the only big obstacle left in the Crimson's path to the A-1 crown. In this game Amity's defense was just superb, as they got hy, by a score of 14-0. The Lindenhurst game, which was played in the mud and rain, saw Bernie Wyatt break the county scoring record with just seconds left to go in the game. Amityville's gridiron men were voted the Rut- ger's trophy for the third year running, thus retiring it in Amityville's hands. Al Chambers, Alex Mobley, and Bernie Wyatt were elected to the all Suffolk football team of which Mr. How- ard was elected co-coach. All in all it. was an- other great year for the players of Amity High.
