The Key Club is an international or- ganization of high school boys' clubs un- der the sponsorship of Kiwanis Interna- tional. Its purpose is to prepare boys of today to be citizens of tomorrow by teach- ing its members that in serving others they themselves are better prepared for the future. As customary, the Key Club presented its sportsmanship trophy for football. The winner is chosen by the coaches of the teams of the league. This year, Bay Shore, which was rated by the committee for having shown the best all around sports- manship, was the winning school. The Key Club presented-in co-sponsorship with the Leader's Club-the annual Faculty- Student contests. Women members of the faculty competed with members of the Leaders Club in a spirited game of vol- leyball, and men of the faculty vied with the varsity in a fast game of basketball. The club was honored this year by hav- ing Bruce Bates elected as one of the Lieutenant Governors of New York State. The club also had the honor of helping to start a brother club in Bay Shore. Charles White was elected president with Donald Beckwith, Dick Herr, and Brad Yates elected vice president, secre- tary, and treasurer respectively. With these four otlicers to lead them and under the guidance of Mr. Brophy, the upheld its motto- We Build. Key Club
