In the first round of the New Haven Debating League, Amity placed first. They also participated in the Cheshire Academy Debating Tournament, the Model United Nations in Providence, and the Model Congress and State meet at UConn. The members of this club have gained valuable ex- perience in public speaking and, through their research and prepara- tion, a better understanding of world affairs. PANISH The members of the Spanish Club, under the guidance of Mrs. Huver, strive to become accustomed to the Spanish way of life. Under the supervision of Mrs. Lawson, Mr. Baumgartner, and Mr. Klein, the Dramatic Club meets twice a week and is open to stu- dents from grades seven through twelve. A greater knowledge of the basic elements of acting is gained through plays, skits, panto- mimes, and speeches.
