IN MEMORIAM Among our most cherished memories of school days is our association with our friend, Carl Stafford. Carl was a quiet, unassuming boy, with a soft, sweet manner that endeared him to students and teachers alike. As he gained physical strength, he began to excel in competitive sports and would undoubtedly have been a real threat as full-back on the varsity football team. We remember Carl as a devout church member, una- shamed to openly acknowledge a deep spiritual life. We are grateful for this friend who asked little and gave much. Football was Carl's favorite sport. A very aggressive player, he was also a most dependable one. He knew and carried out his plays with exceptional ability, The finest tribute we can pay comes from a football buddy: Best of all, he was fair and loyal. 5 REMEMBER Remember me when I am gone awayg Gone far away into the silent landg When you can no more hold me by the han Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay. Yet if you should forget me for a while And afterward remember, do not grieve: For if the darkness leave A vestige of the thoughts that once I had, Better by far you should forget and smile Than that you should remember and be sad.
