GIRLS’ TENNIS The girls’ tennis team, coached by Mr. Robert Kelly, remained undefeated throughout its season, by downing Mary Burnham, Long- meadow, Palmer, Greenfield, and West Springfield. The team was led by Leslie Ludtke and Heather MacConnell, who played the number one and number two positions, and by Melissa Ludtke and Captain Sue Oliver, who played numbers three and four. GIRLS’ TRACK The girls’ track team turned in another splendid season with a rec- ord of 1 — 1. Its only opponent was West Springfield. At the state meet, the team took second place in the twenty-three school competition. Betsy Stosz was first in the shot put and discus and Nancy Hankinson was first in the high jump and second in the shot put at the state meet.

TENNIS This year’s tennis team was one of the strongest teams in recent years. The team finished second in the Greater Springfield League, with a 12—4 record. Several players participated in the Wes- tern Massachusetts tournament and the New England championships. Next year, despite the loss of key players, the team has a good chance at first place in its league. On All Of Its Teams. GOLF The golf team had a fine season, finishing with a 4—3 record. A Very Fine Season. Spirited practices are a part of the season. Karen Waldron is out at first. SOFTBALL After getting off to a slow start, the softball team, coached by Miss Betty Lawson, came back with some very exciting games near the end of the season.
