PRINCIPAIJS MESSAGE Although current events would seem to indicate that these are parlous times for education in the United States and that some changes in the curriculum and approach to secondary school education may be very much in order, the funda- mental fact remains that it is the duty of every student to take full advantage of his educational opportunities if he is to prove himself a worthy citizen of his country. Anyone who seeks to excuse his own laziness or lack of application by blaming it on the exigencies of modern life should give careful thought to what our ancestors and pioneer builders of our country endured in order to establish a strong republic. Do not you, therefore, in a search for security and a life with- out effort sacrifice your own full development and effectiveness by failing to give your greatest effort to all that education can give you. In aiding you to pre- pare yourself for this important aim, the staff of the Amherst Regional High School has given its best efforts and joins me in wishing you the success and satisfaction that will be yours. 7
