Dowd honor roll meeting F I Brain food our een i - ' 2 i S Mil l l lf-ls Pro Merito members attending the January PRO MERITG This year the Pro Merito Society continued its practice of sponsoring four bi-monthly meetings to which honor roll members are invited. Usually a guest speaker, often from one of the colleges, is present and refreshments are served. Since Bill Cole was elected a Vice-President of the Massachusetts Society, the fall regional meeting was heldhere in Amherst. Many schools from Hampshire county and other nearby towns were represented, and were entertained by Professor Whicher and Dean Wilson, both of Amherst College. In order to become a member of the society, one must have compiled during his four years in high school a total of twenty points. Under this system an A equals five points, a B zero points, a C minus five, etc. Several privileges have been awarded to Pro Merito members this year because of the need for a real incen- tive to work toward becoming a member. These privileges include a special pass and a duplicate set of books. Standing: D. Elder presi dent, W. Cole, vice-president Seated: L.
