PHYSICAL EDUCATION The program of the Physical Education Depart' ment at Amherst is based mainly upon one ideag that each student should develop himself physi- cally while learning to grow in sportsmanship and character through participation with others. In the gym classes. both the girls and the boys are offered many different types of activities in addition to the usual seasonal sports. Some of these are folk and square dancing, marching. tum- bling. and apparatus work forthe girls. and wres- tling. rope and ring work, tumbling. volleyball, and dodgeball for the boys.
