L THOMAS KlDDg American, World His- CLARENCE SPITZERL American tory, Guidance, Student Union director History, adviser of TOWER A careful study of man's past experiences, a rewarding task in itself, can provide an understanding of much of modern-day happenings. As part of New York State's citizenship education program, history forms a common background of information for most American citizens. This year, forthe lirst time, the History Department has inaugurated a diversified teaching program. A be- ginning has been made towards the introduction of World History in the tenth grade with the organization of an honors class. Next year it is planned that a large majority of tenth grade students will be taking World History, followed by American History in the eleventh grade. lt is hoped that ultimately college-bound seniors will be able to take electives in such fields as sociology, economics, and geography.
