Sandra Schweitzer. STUDEN This year the Senior High Student Council, under the guidance of Mr. Rosenberry and Mrs. Husband, enjoyed another successful year. Soon after school commenced in September, the council launched the annual magazine drive, whose goal of 553000 was enthusiastically topped by the student body with a total of 353500. The P.T.A. found the student council support- ing its Annual Variety Show. As is customary, this group handled the Community Chest Drive and the corresponding Mr. and Miss Red Feather cam- paign. Of course, as always, many school activities received financial support from the council. Two new projects were undertaken in 1953- 1954 by branches of the council. The M'elcoming Committee, after jointly holding a program with the Activities Committee, began a counseling serv- ice for new students in choosing an extracurricu- lar program. Secondly, the council worked in conjunction with a faculty committee to help COUNCIL solve the traffic problem on the school's stairwells. This year's oflicers were Douglas Freeth, presi- dent, Dorothy Scott, vice president, Audrey Hurd, secretary, Roger Mlilhelm, treasurer. The Junior High Student Council was equally successful. In the third year of its existence, the council was able this year for the first time to carry on a regular program. For the past two years it has been concerned with laying the foundation and forming a constitution. Many activities flourished in Room 110 under the guidance of Miss Fitzgibbons. The seventh grade for the first time in history had officers. This election was handled completely by the Junior High Student Council. A campaign to decorate the halls during the Christmas season was also conducted by this group. This year's officers were john Oehler, president, Maryann Powell, vice president, Lynda Hopkins, secretary, jack Elliot, corresponding secretary, Ted Osborne, treasurer.
