No school can function without the full cooperation of the Board of Education, and Amherst is very fortunate in this respect. Made up of civic-minded people who are interested in the possible solutions to problems that arise, they have set a high standard for other schools of the area. Realizing the full importance of the effect our school life has on our later years, they have approached the changing school system with this in mind. Besides their monthly meeting, they hold various committee meetings to alleviate any diiliculties that may arise. The community is proud of this hard-working group and ap- preciates their services. SCHOOL CLERK ln the capacity of Clerk of the Board of Educa- tion, Mr. Charles Lexer has the arduous task of managing all business affairs of the school district. This entails mainly the purchases of school sup- plies. In a growing school community such as ours, the system is not as simple as it may seem. Any supplies not covered by building contracts must be processed through his office, resulting in the 4 necessity of a person who can buy wisely. Mr. Lexer admirably fills the responsibility of this job. BOARD OF EDUCA T ION .Seated left to right: Mrs. D. 0. Granger, Mrs. Ruth Brown. Smmling: Mr. john Maclnnis. Nlr.
