The gradual rise of our students from the seventh grade to the graduating class is a battle of skill and enthusiasm, but final victory is well worth the effort. So was it with their gallant ancestry. The age-old struggle of mankind was then illustrated by the ascent of the dutiful page to the dignified position of the mighty noble. For this reason, we have created a parallelism between our classes-seventh through twelfth-and the established classes of society recognized in another era. Our modern Castle, the well-known school building, is the center of activity for all Amherst. Mr. Schweickhard is our King,', the supreme ruler, the Board of Education represents the King's Coun- cil. The Student Council, where the King's subjects have a voice in their government, may be compared to the Knights of the Round Table. Our rules and regulations have been established as a method of enforcing the Common Law, and by observing them we have suc- cessfully preserved the days of chivalry in our age. The Guild Masters, teachers of trade to the apprentices of the past, are depicted by the members of our faculty, who educate us in both knowledge and culture. We have reproduced the entertain- ment of this illustrious realm in the development of our extra- curricular program. Our varied activities provide a rich likeness to the stately chamber-games of olden days, we have replaced the royal jousts and tournaments with a wholesome interest and participation in the athletic organizations. Let us now behold the brilliance of our medieval procession- the highlights of the school year 1951-1952 at Amherst Central High School. .s .llzgg-isa'
