P MR ROBERT SCHONEWOLF The Senior Class of 194-6 has chosen to dedicate its yearbook to Mr. Robert Schonewolf, long a servant of students and highly respected as a master of the art of teaching. From the day he en- tered the halls of Amherst sixteen years ago until the present time he has contributed much towards the upbuilding of the student- body and the school. Working silently and unapplauded behind the scenes, Mr. Schonewolf has been one of the moving forces towards school improvements, pupil success, and general progress in education at Amherst Central. Students and faculty alike hold Mr. Schonewolf in high esteem for his zealous devotion to duty, his penetrating insight, and his sincere interest in the welfare of all those with whom he comes in contact. 5 TOWER

This year We have chosen the circus as the theme of our yearbook because we feel that it symbolizes a phase of school life that can be emphasized now that the world is at peace. We, the students, have been the performers of Amherst. VVe have basked in the brilliant spotlight of success and we have tasted the despair of defeat. Here it is-all that remains of the 1945-46 season- acts reenacted, high wire artists and clowns, ringmaster and rousta- bouts. Not the smell of sawdust but the pungent odor of ink, not the roar of animals but the happy chatter of boys and girls crowd our memories as we glory again in this important part of our treasured past. The show will go on but the stars will change, new attractions will take our place.
