They included the new track, a proposed restriction on driving privileges for sophomores and whether attendance should be required at assemblies. Many students’ prayers were answered as they returned in the fall to find that a 400 meter long strip of pavement had been added to the grounds of Ames High. Unfortunately it wasn’t an addition to the parking lot but rather a new $50,000 resilite track. With the parking problem still unsolved, first semester’s student council set out to find a solution. Many sophomores were infuriated as the council announced a plan to prohibit sophomores from parking in the high school parking lot. The idea was an unpopular one and it was voted down by the council. Attendance was closely checked at assemblies. Anyone who was not at the assembly 10 minutes after the start was sent 10 a وت‎ area.
