Student Council This year the Student Council operated under a new committee system. The previous ten committees were reduced to four larger ones: social and welcoming, homecoming and money-making, assembly and election, and awards and noon hour. Although the methods were changed, the purpose remained the same: to provide a laboratory in democracy and to offer students an opportunity to participate in government. First semester officers included Bruce Bergland, president; Paul McGuire, vice-president; Karen Smedal. secretary. Filling these positions second semester were John Hinrichsen, Jeff Peterson, and Marg Buch- holtz. Bob Carr served as treasurer and Betty Keller as social chairman for the entire year. Junior Exec and Senior Senate The Junior Executive Council, under the direction of Mr. McBride, sold Homecoming mums, school directories, AHS stationery, and sponsored a car wash, leaf rake, and the class play, Heaven Can Wait,” to raise money for the Junior-Senior Prom. Junior class officers were Bob Beaty, president; Mike Allen, vice-president; Archie Greene, secretary; and Barb Lindcil, treasurer. The Senior Senate handled the business of the Senior Class. They ordered announcements, name cards, caps and gowns, and planned the Senior picnic. Baccalaureate and Commencement. Senior Class officers were Bill Rosebrook, president; Bill Landsberg, vice-president; Jean Fellows, secretary ; and Scott Feamster, treasurer. Mr. Ritland was the class sponsor.
