Who is this great scientist he now sees? Why, it’s Carol Shepard who is now working on his great invention of a trapless, baitless, and even mouseless “Mouse Trap”. He hopes to lure all the mice from every house to this trap with his super-duper trombone for a small fee of 5£. Here comes Ruth Rogers who has graduated from college and has a job as ,ecretary to the president of the Cherry Chocolate Company. She spends her evenings sampling her company’s products because it has been her policy since high school days not to waste time eating supper. Now he sees our other sponsor, Robert Dale Gordon, who now has a Senior Class that can decide on one certain thing instead of two or three. He now has a set of twin boys who are on the basketball team and they stay home on the nights before the tournament when they are told to. When the space ship passes through a light mist, he notices Dorothy Conrade who has decided to give up her ambition of being a concert soloist to become an author. Her book, SOLUTION TO STRANGE LOVE ENTANGLEMENTS, was selected as the book of the month and she is now working on another book, SMOKE IN THE ROCKIES. Now he sees a sign in big letters which says Nadyne Lyon’s Beauty Salon. Nadyne graduated from Peck’s Beauty Academy in Emporia and decided she would set up a beauty business of her own since she did so well with the girls at A. H. S. back in 1950. She has several men customers who say they come for manicures, but Stegman thinks that’s just a good excuse to see Nadyne. Stegman was called to Washington to the White House in his space ship. V. ho does he find but Doris Pracht, secretary to the President, who is Dale Hardig. Doris spends a lot of time in the President’s office taking letters in shorthand. Here is Jean Lamb an old maid. After graduating from college she settled down to a quiet life of teaching school at Bushong. She has a weekly visitor named Cecil who has decided to be a bachelor. On his return trip home, Stegman crashes his ship and is taken to Newman Memorial Hospital. When he awakes he sees Eileen Bass, a graduate nurse, who works at the hospital in her spare time, even though she’s married and has a twin girl and boy, who look just like their daddy. 11

The banquet, given May 6, had the ’49ers” as the theme. The tables were decorated with a covered wagon. Lilacs and tulips were the flowers used. The Sophomore Girls and Pearl Kirkman cooked the food and the boys helped with the serving. Place cards were cowboy hats. There were no new members our Senior Year. Barbara Neilsen left us at the beginning of the year. There were 14 members in the class for this year. Jean Robinson was elected president of the class and Don Pracht, vice-president. Dorothy Conrade was elected secretary and Barbara Dyer, treasurer. George Goodell was elected student council member. On October 5 the Senior Class journeyed to Osage City in the afternoon to have their graduation pictures taken. They stayed in the evening to see two shows, “Gallant Bess” and “The House of Strangers . Plans are now being made for the Senior Play, Sneak Day, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. Class Flower . . nmt. „sn Beauty Rose Class Motto . . “Make The Best Better” Class Color...........Blue And White Class Prophecy Wilbur Stegman, one of the Senior Sponsors of 1950, has invented a space ship of this day and age of 1970. Mr. Stegman has decided to visit this class so he starts off in his ship. The first one to come into sight is the Great Leonard Sowers, the undefeated criminal lawyer and his wife, Patricia, who has been a great assistance to him during his fascinating career. As the space ship travels on the fog clears and he sees the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Goodell (known as Barbara and Pete in Americus) who packed their walnut bed and chest in 1955 and moved to their new homestead in Alaska. Since they have moved, Barbara is president of the Alaska Fishery Corporation, and Pete goes fishing in the little pond and takes care of the children. As the clouds swiftly pass by he looks and sees Doris Harmon is the only one in Americus to reach Hollywood to become a great star. You will see her featured in Sherlock Holme’s, “MURDER IN THE GRAVEYARD. Next in view is Earl Miller, shoe shiner in Muller's Barber Shop, who hopes to work up to the position of proprietor. He has just bought himself a 1970 Crosley in which he is still sporting Romona, Bessie, and Genevieve around town. As he looks down from the sky, he sees Jean Robinson, whose husband. Bill Rollins, is the president of the Conoco Oil Company. Jean is kept very busy with her daily household force of 25 servants and maids required to run Rollins Paradise, their country home, one mile south of Americus. The person he sees next is a distinguished, middle-aged man. He is none other than Don Pracht, who was always such a lover in the good old days back at dear old Americus High and who is now writing a love column which appears in the Associated 'ress under the title of “My Nights”, in which he gives advice on how to make friends and influence people. He has a special lecture series, “Low To V.’in Your Favorite Lady In Ten Easy Lessons”. 10

Class Will We, the Senior Class, of the city of Americus, county of I.yon. and state of Kansas, being of sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testament, hereby revoking any will or wills heretofore made by us. We, the Senior Class, do hereby bequeath all our personality, beauty, leadership, intelligence, and initiative to the under classmen. I, Jean Robinson, will my pleasing personality and charming smile to Virginia Cowan so she can keep Russell (or anyone) serious. I, Nadyne Lyon. will to Bessie Fiant my ability to start a good fight anytime, anywhere so it won’t be too quiet and peaceful around A. H. S. next year. I, Doris °racht, will my ambition to be a secretary to the Junior Girls so Mrs. Daily will have a Shorthand Class next year. I, Jean Lamb, will my roller skates to Clayton Finney so somebody else can get all the bumps for awhile. I’m getting tired of sore hands, arms, legs, and eyes. I, L,eonard Sowers, will my ability to put up a good argument even though I know I’m wrong to Lynn Lyon. It’s good practice, Lynn, if you want to be a lawyer someday. I, Carol Shepard, will my ability to think of a crackpot idea for every situation to Pearl Pracht so the students at A. H. S. won't miss me so much next year. I, Wilbur Stegman, will my Model A to Gary Jensen so he 11 have room to take all his girl friends riding at one time. Of course you’d have to put up partitions to keep them from fighting. I, Dorothy Conrade, will my drawing talent to Darlene Allen so the Indian Scout will have good cartoons next year. I, Earl Miller, will my ability to have so many girl friends at one time without the other one finding it out to Bill Duncan. It s a great asset, Bill, if you just use it right. I, Pete Goodell, will my coon-catchin' power to Leslie DeWeese. If you practice at least five nights a week, Leslie, it will keep you from becoming involved with the girls. (Maybe. It didn’t me!) I, Barbara Dyer, will my ability to always get into trouble in Constitution and to write all the front page (or any other page) stories to Barbara Goodell. I, Don °racht, will my job as sports editor to Charlie Bass on account as how I never did it anyhow. (And I don’t suppose he will either.) I, Robert D. Gordon, will my ability to get along with the Senior Class to the Senior Sponsor of '51. (If you teach Constitution and find that print in the back of the book too small to read well, try using your finger. It’s remarkable how it helps you keep your place.) I, Doris Harmon, will my sewing ability to Donna Brasie and my slow graceful walk to Norma Edmiston. I, Ruth Rogers, will my job as cook’s helper to Genevieve Vyatt so that she'll leave the boys alone in the hall and give the other girls a chance. 12
