YE LLOVJACKET Here, midst copy and confusion in a smoke-filled room is the staff that edited your YELLOW JACKET. Your YELLOW IACKET, ten years old this year-hitting the campus for student read- ers every other week-cov- ering the AIC scene with a thoroughness that is appre- ciated by only a few-Com petently edited by the Kari- bou Kid, Dottie Snowman- ably assisted by Margie Cljeature Ed.l Griffith and Peg tNews Ed.l Maloney-A hec- tic year,-budget troubles, paper troubles, staff troubles, -the same old story oi a very few doing,a lot of work for very many-. YI meetings, - assignments, criticism, argument, wonder- 4 ment-copy trouble - dead- lines not met-stories to be rewritten-Ginger Stone on mad errands to the printer- lack of copy and furious, last minute work on stories roll- ing off the overworked type- writer in the YI room. Wednesday night, makeup- galleys, proof reading, paste and scissors, and cigarettes -hot coffee late at night from the diner-chewed pen- cils and scratched heads in a desperate search for the right words for headlines- lights burn late in Lee Hall- the cluttered floor, a ianitor's nightmare-the air blue, not 15 only from smoke, but from cuss words oft the makeup editor's tongue-hard, hur- ried work against the clock, but thrilling and stimulating. Friday, another issue at Chapel time-students with heads buried in YI pages- some reading intensely, some scanning the pages for his or her name-a few laughs, a few beets-and everyone but those who know and love and Work tor the YELLOW IACKET go merrily on their way-While the little group ot AIC jour- nalists start the old, dizzy pace toward the next issue.

Hank lohnson, blew hot and then cold and then hot again to wind up the season with four wins, two defeats and one tie. Dorninating the play of almost every game was the work of almost two dozen freshmen who earned their letters and will be back for the Black and Gold next season. Co-Captains loe O'Grady and Henry Hank Butova along with Cyril Campbell are the graduating mem- bers of the eleveny The first two rank with the best backs in the Aces' grid history. Campbell only joined the team during his last year and broke into the starting lineup in mid sea- son. For the first time, Springfield College trounced the Aces 35 to 6 to take the Mayor's Trophy home until next year. That was a rough and tough pill for the most of us to swallow. The team is eager to get after the YMCA boys in '47, Having an easy time in their opener with the lst Army Headquarters, the Aces ran into trouble with B.U. and then on the next week they couldn't
