One, consisting of courses ir. Zoology, Biology and Botany, is under the charge of Mr. Perry. The other, which covers Chemistry, Physics, and General Science is taught by Miss Cole. ' The efficient direction and the interest displayed, by Mr. Perry have taught his pupils very valuable lessons. There have been many projects, such as the making of illustrated bird-books, the collection of flowers, butterflies, and various other insects, Which have, at the same time, given the pupils much experience andtkept, their' enthusiasm alive. Chemistry and Physics are highly interesting subjects offered to the Juniors and Seniors under the capable direction of ,Miss Cole! The English students of this year have been struck with an unusual artistic urge which is heartily encouraged by their respective teachers. Posters for book reports, illustrations of poems and stories and more posters are to be seen in each English room, greatly enhancing its appearance. I Miss Cecilia Kays teaches the Senior English. Besides their English they 've taken an elementary library course with Miss Ione Kidder. Their project for the term is the writing of individual essays on prominent literary figures. Miss Kays teaches Sophomore English and carried out successful progects on letter Writing, origin and history of familiar Words, poetry and literary maps. I English III is taught by Miss Virginia Cottingham and is varied by posters and un- expected quizzes. Miss Cottingham teaches Freshman English. Special credit is attainable by the illustrating of stories, and reference library .Work is d-one. THE LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT. ' - SPANISH Fortunate is the student of a language Who may study it in the country Where it is spoken, since the courses are so much more thorough. Spanish is required from the first grade up in the elementary gradesg Mexican history, geography, and' civics are given in addition to the grammatical side of the language. Senorita Candano teaches the seventh and eighth grades, the latter grade having the advantage of studying Spanish literatlgigf Altheugh Se- iora Banoshas but recently joined usfshe has gained the favor of her classes, some of her classes are enjoying El Haz de Lenaf, ga tragic poem by Nunes de Arce, after laboring for the first half of the semester oii grammar and the history of Mexican literature.
