Lilie would probably be boring lior you il' no one gave you a good light on some issues. but all in all. you have changed us a good deal. Your students have liolloxved you. tripping and distracted. but never regretting the milestones passed. and usually willing to go tumbling alter you. lt has been beneficial for us to go banging around in your intellectual wake. and to consider it the best oliall possible modes oltravel. 'l'hose ol' us who agree with some of' your ideas have been gratiliecl to hear them clearly expressed. and those who disagree with most of them have learned ztxlpf they hold their own views and not others. Wle write this because we donlt think that sort ol' thing happens very olten. Because you took us seriously, we took you seriously. No one but an old child, or a young adult. whiehe- ver way you consider it. can understand the importance ofbeing taken seriously. You carved us up re- gularly into bitcsize souvlaki pieces. you scewered us on scholarly agruments. and you stopped at nothing to promote our eventual wellare as you saw it. This year. we have oliten sat in the senior room alter the three o'eloek bell has rung. talking. absorb- ing the exhortation to raise money which ends a normal senior day, or just too numb to move. On such occasions you have shouted. in a calm way of course. 4eXll right now. Gola And now that we are really going. for many of us it has been you that interrupted the examined life. the one worth living. We thank you. Sir. 'l'he Class ol' 1961
