rREARADMrRAL DAVID R MORRIS N 0 I Rear Admiral Morris was born in San Diego, California and graduated with a BS in Marketing from the University of Utah in 1957 where he received his commission through the N ROTC program. Designated a Naval Aviator in June 1959, Rear Admiral Morris flew every version of the F-8 Crusader in numerous fighter squadrons culminating in command of Fighter Squadron Twenty-Four in 1972. During this tour he conducted combat operations in Southeast Asia. He accumulated over 300 combat missions over Northf South Vietnam between 1965 and 197 2. His squadron command tour was followed by assignment to the Air War College where he also received an MS Degree in Political Science at Auburn Univer- sity. He next reported to USS RANGER ICVA 611 where he served as Air Operations, then Operations Officer. Following that tour he reported to COMNAVAIRPAC as Executive Assistant and Flag Secretary. Rear Admiral Morris next assumed command of USS ST. LOUIS ILKAI 161, followed by duty as Commander Amphibious Squadron ON E. He then reported to OPNAV COP-605 as Assistant for J CS matters, strategy, plans and policy. Rear Admiral Morris subsequently served in the Navy Military Personnel Command as Director Aviation Officer Distribution KNMPC 435 . Rear Admiral Morris was selected to Rear Admi- ral in December 1985 and assumed duties as Chief of Naval Air Training. He assumed com- mand of Carrier Group EIGHT in july 1988. Rear Admiral Morris has been awarded numerous personal decorations which include the Legion of Merit with two gold stars, the distinguished Flying Cross with two gold stars. the Bronze Star, the meritorious Service Medal, and five Air Medals.
