Showing their enthusiasm and team support, teachers present a Charleston and other song and dance numbers from the 1920’s at the Altoona pep assembly. After accepting the WP AL trophy from team captain Dick DeVenzio, Mr. Hlista stated, “Pm the proudest principal in the state of Pennsylvania. 7

A lake-off on a favorite television commercial provides entertainment for the students at a basketball pep rally. A time to laugh . . . Ways of transportation to the PI A A state play-offs in Harrisburg were not always of the conventional means. “The mind ought sometimes to be diverted that it may return all the better to thinking.” A good time and a good laugh are as much a part of the school day as learning. Whether watching club initiates perform before older members or cheering at a pep assembly, students found many occasions to laugh. A change of pace induces a person to work harder upon returning to his task. Talking in the hallway between classes, riding buses to and from school, and anticipating an upcoming week-end on a Friday afternoon are the times which lighten the daily routine. Learning, joining, and participating gave students the enthusiasm to transform the commonplace into days which will be fondly remembered as student life at Ambridge Area High School.
