Qi SCIlOUl., BOARD The accomplishments of the Board of Trustees of the Amarillo Independent School District for the last two years has been outstanding in the history of the district, and it is doubtful if there will ever be a f-' 'iid of as great opportunity for building in the same length of time as has been these two years. The demands made on the district by reason of s' -ncrease in population have been met in a manner that has brouffl . the patrons olf the schools, as well as from the tax payers of tl J.. approximately one million dollars have been ex- pended for new l - Q iintenance expense has almost doubled, the good busi- ness judgment used, together with increased values in the city, new buildings, mercan- tile stocks. etc., instead of an increase in the school tax, we have been able to reduce the rate to 82 cents per one hundred dollars which is the lowest rate of any city or town in West Texas, with one exception. Following is a list of new buildings, and substantial additions to buildings dur' ing the last two years: ' Second Unit, Senior High School 5231788.00 North Buchanan Street, Grade or junior High 52,535.00 Sanbourn School. Grade and Junior High 133,085.00 Summit. Grade 56,057.00 Country Club, Grade and ,lunior High 80,803.00- Eakle, Grade 76,789.00 Humphry Highland, Grade l4,74l.00 Pleasant Valley, Grade 30,544.00 Sites Purchased 36,600.00 Equipment 5 7,000.00 5873992.00 The personnel of the Board covering this period of development is as follows: W. N. Durham, H W. Blackburn, H. S. Milholland, B. Coe, U. S. Strader. E.. l... Roberts, A. Bowman. Mr. B. C. D. Bynum succeeded Mr Durham on Jan.
