Cons lllqht But fall Liberty spoiled Amador's Homecom- ing celebration and championship hopes by downing the Don's eleven 14-6. Rick Garibaldi picked up a punt on his 18- yard line and streaked 82 yards down the sidelines for thc Don's only TD. In the game's last minute and half, passes by Garibaldi for 7 yards and 15 yards, and a 24-yard run by the quar- terback, moved the Dons from their 20 to the Lion's 34. But a pass from Garibaldi was intercepted and moments later the final gun went off. Liberty 0 O 7 7--14 Amador 0 0 6 O-- 6 Amador tries to intercept puSS. Rick Garibaldi Ql9j down the sidelines for Amador's only TD. the Jmx Qemams A fumble set up the winning touchdown with 49 seconds left for Livermore. The game was certainly one of the most thrilling in the long rivalry between the two schools--despite being played in trying weather conditions. The game, played on a mud-sloshed field, was pri- marily dominated by the tough defensive squads of both teams. Amador scored early when Ray Calija streaked into the end zone from 40 yards out. At the end of the hali it looked like Amador could hold its own. Yet late in the last quarter the jinx appeared and fullback Dave Newton fumbled the ball on the Livermore eleven. The game was lost but Amador still took its position with two other schools for second place.
