School Activities PSP CLUB The pep club was organized early in the school year. Officers elected were Leila Nickel-President, Vernie Roelofsz-Vice-President, Jeanette Rue ter-Secretary-Treasurer. Mrs. Davenport was the sooncer. 'The cheerleaders were Jo Don McKinnon and Darlene Jonson. The cheer- leaders were outfitted in orange sweaters, and black skirts, and black ties. 3TODSNT COUNCIL This was the second year for this organization. Mr. Gardner was the sponsor. Representatives were elected from each class and t o members at large were elected by the student body. Activities of the student council this year included several dances and organization of noon-hour recreation. This years members and officers are: Junior Weichel-President Vernie Roelofsz-Vice-President Larrie Bell-Sec,-Treasurer Roger Kinney-Junior class Darlene Johnson-Sophomore class Mickey Lipskey-freshman class DRAMATICS CLUB This organization also had its second birthday this year. Mr. Clifford Tegler is the sponsor. The Dramatics Club gave a play December 7th and a banquet October l6th. This years officers are; Ralph Nickel-President Jo Don McKinnon-Secretary Roger Kinney-Vice President Ted McNeese-Treasurer BOYS JOURNEY TO PERU Mr. Mayfield and Mir. Gardner sponsore! a trip to Peru for the high school boys January 19th. The boys all enjoyed the trip, especially the Peru-Chadron basketball game. High School Visits State Tournaments The majority of the Alvo High students traveled to Lincoln March ll+th, to take in the State Basketball Tournament. Two class C games that were especially enjoyed were Minden vs. Seward and Holy Name vs. Gering. Seniors Take in senior ay at Peru Pour boys of the senior class journeyed to Peru February 19th to take in Peru s Senior Day. ey were shown the educational and recreational facilities that Peru ha3 to offer. A he boys came home with the impression that Peru might be a good place to go to college.

School Activities INITIATION Freshman Initiation was held September 30th. A great time was had by all except the Freshman. The Freshman did stunts for the amusement of the upperclassmen at the evening party. VICTORY DANCES Victory dances were helc after two games, in the Alvo 3ym. They were after the Bennett and Kehawka games. -he .Tehawka game was homecoming day. CHRISTMAS DANCE A Christmas dance was held December 19th. The auditorium was gayly decorated according to the Christmas theme. DRAMATIC CLUB PLAY The Dramatics Club presented the p.'ay Calm Yourself , December 7th. Mr. Tegler directed the play and we are happy to say that it went off well. FOOTBALL BANQUET A Football Banquet for the Alvo boys was held in the Alvo . »etnodist Church December 12th. Trie banquet was opened by an invocation by Reverand Drake, followed by a delicious dinner served by the Ladies Aid. The guest speaker for the evening was Herman Rohrig, Manager of Russel Sporting oods of Lincoln and former football player with the Ireen 3ay Packers, and the University of Nebraska. The footoall lettermen were presented with white championship sweaters. An all-opponent team picked by the Alvo players were special guests. GLEE CLUB The Glee Cluo was directed by Mrs. Davenport. It took part In the Christmas program and supplied talent for various programs through the year. Plans were being made to attend the ass County Festival• FOOToALL TEAM HONORED The Alvo Football Team was honored at Cotto.ner i'errac November l6th. The dinner consisted of steak, and all the trimmings. After the dinner tiey went to a snow, and ther all returned nome.
