j Class Prophecy The year was 1972; the place was Omaha, Nebraska, We see a handsome young man who looks familiarly like Larrie Bell, He has done well since his graduation. He is a vice- president in the firm of Armour and Co. Larrie lives in a large, ultra-modern home in the best part of town. He has never married. Larrie says that he likes to be free to cir- culate. He has Just purchased a new model Mercury, better known as The Black Mariah. He plans to try his new car out by taking a trip and visiting his old school mates whom he hasn»t seen for fifteen years. The first leg of Larrie s Journey takes him to southern Missouri where he finds Ted McNeese operating a chain of stills in the Ozarks. Ted has married a local hillbilly girl and is busy with his family of twelve children. He is educat- ing his six sons to be the future backs of Missouri s football team. j J Leaving Missouri, Larrie heads for New York. He sees by the paper that the Yankees are getting ready for the World Series. He is suprised to see that Vernie Roelofsz is the Yankee business manager. Larrie visits Vernie, hoping he might get a free pass to the Series. He finds that Vernie has never married. She says that her career keeps her too busy to bother having a helpless male around the house. After seeing the Yankees win the Series, Larrie heads for Michigan. He heard that his former team mate on the Alvo football team, Bill Meyers, was coaching football at Michigan State. Larrie finds that Bill has married and has a family of three boys. Bill says that he is teaching one to be a fullback, one to be a center, and the other to throw the shot. Michigan State has a good team this year and as Larrie is heading for California he tells Bill he 11 see him at the Rosebowl. Larrie s next stop is Hollywood, where the more talented member of his class, Karl Lee Clark, is making a new musical movie. True to Hollywood tradition, Karl is entering on his sixth marriage. Karl says that with so many pretty girls a- round, he has to ration his time to get around to all of them. Larrie s last stop before heading home is at San Diego, California, where Ralph Nickel is chief engineer in the Lock- heed Aircraft Plant. Ralph has married a California bathing beauty and has a family of two boys and two girls. As this was the last of Larrie s old class mates, and since, due to Larrie s driving, his new Mercury needs a gen- eral overhaul, Larrie decides to head back to Omaha and see if he can t work up to the position of president of Armours.
