Queen Christine Kirk Senior Court Reigns Over April Prom Queen Christine and her court reign- ed at the J unior-Senior Prom in April at the Altadena Country Club. The queen and the court were elected by the senior class late in January but the identity of the queen was kept secret' until the night of the prom when she was crowned. Students . Speech At the close of every school year, awards, scholarships, and achievements are given to stu- dents in various fields. Two sophomores represented A1- verno at the Lions Club Speech contestg and another sophomore won the Department Chair- man's award for her short story at the Immaculate Heart Cre- ative Writing Day. Two juniors represented the Student Body at the Governor's Conference in February. An Alverno senior, Sue Goetz, was named a National Merit Semi-Finalist, while six other seniors were awarded Letters of Commendation. According to the SAT test taken in November and December, twelve seniors were announced as Semi-Final- ists in the State Scholarship Competition. In March, the Bank of America trophy and certificate winners were an- nounced.
