SOLITUDE Students Beth Byrne and Dee Paquette enjoy quiet Retreat . Time to Study Ourselves, The Passionist Monastery was the scene of the first senior twilight retreat. Under the guidance of Father Andre, C.P. and Sister Annemarie, the seniors were actively in- volved in a new style of retreat-the Altura. The program incorporated group discussion on the topics of Awareness of Others , and Light, Life, and Love . The retreat also included a community meal, folk singing, and a poster contest. A ceremony in the chapel concluded the retreat. Instead of the traditional consecutive days for the student retreat, days of recollection were spent in meditation, at conferences and in group discussions. 7'-iff? if, INVOLVED DISCUSSIONS . . . Accrediting Committee Ev-aluates Alverno One of the most important events of the year was the visyation of Alverno by a committee of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Sister M. Clarice, OP, Archdiocesan Curriculum Co-ordinator, was the chairman of the committee. Other members included Miss Edith Chapralis, assistant principal of Lennox High School, Lennoxg Mother Mercedes, MSC, princi- pal of Villa Cabrini Academy, Burbankg Sister Mary Peter, OP, Secondary School Supervisor, San Fran- ciscog and Dr. Richard Lehan, assistant professor of English, UCLA. Student preparation for accreditation began with questionnaires pertaining to the academic and coun- seling opportunities offered at Alverno. The student committee evaluated the answers and submitted its re- port at a Student Body assembly. The Faculty also composed a comprehensive report dealing with differ- ent phases of Alverno's curriculum. if il..
