Seniors Gffer Freshmen Friendship,Advice Where do We go now? How much do hamburgers cost? My quarter got stuck in the milk machine! I forgot my locker combination! I-IELPP' In response to these frantic pleas Big Sisters provide lost fresh- men With directions, change for the machines, locker tricks, encourage- ment and friendship. During the first week of school, seniors direct their Little Sisters through the lunch line and show them the campus shortcuts. A hootenanny with enter- tainment by both senior and fresh- man groups climaxed the week. I HATE PEANUT BUTTER . . . Freshman, Janet Edwards, enjoys the box lunch prepared for her by her sister , Mary Ellen King. BOXES, BAGS AND BASKETS . . . Seniors and freshmen go over the da.y's activities at the Big-Little Sister Box Luncheon. BASKETBALL ON STAGE . . . Big and little sisters watch as LaSalle and St. Francis Hbattle' it out at the Big-Little Sister Hoot- enanny. 25

Custodial Staff . . . Assisting, Serving Responsibility for the general appear- ance of A1verno's buildings and grounds lies with the custodial staff, whose efforts make us proud of our campus . . . opening the gates in the morning . . . mowing the lawn . . . Watering . . . sweeping the terrace . . . fixing broken lockers . . . trimming trees . . . spraying pesticides . . . carry- ing platforms up and down the stairs . . . cleaning classrooms . . . moving the piano . . . though always busyg ever smiling. LEAVES, GRASS AND MORE LEAVES . . . Mr. Ernest Rodriguez, one of Alvernds custodians prepares to clean the grounds, 24 CARPENTER, PLUMBER, ELECTRICIAN . . .Versa- tile Mr. Manuel Valencia performs one of his many daily tasks. PUTT-PUTT-PUTT . . . Grounds keeper, Mr. Fred Tillman, on his familiar lawn mower.

Fresh, Mary Allen and Josie Regan, display their prize-winning and Barbara Wright join the Grand costumes as Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. March at the Student Body Halloween Party. 26
