This year with Sister Anthony, advi- ser, the Spanish Club sponsored activities such as the procession in honor of Our Lady of the Pilar, patroness of Spain, and a poster drive to increase awareness of the school patroness, Our Lady of Guada- lupe. Club members Went to the Padua Hills Theater for a dramatic pro- duction of Las Posadasf' At another meeting, Joaquin Gamboa, from LaSalle High School, discussed the school system of Latin American countries. Interest In Science, Mathematics Because mathematics is a Womarfs break- through in industry, the Mathematics Club is instituted to encourage further study in, and to explore interesting approaches to mathematics. The Alverno Mathematics Club has had a successful beginning this year under the direction of Sister Catherine. In December members toured Burroughs Computer Plant in Pasadena. The most enjoyable and con- fusing project of the year was the human computer. After perfecting the machine the members demonstrated it to their parents at the APA meeting in March. UH . .
