It acknowledges scholastic achieve- ment and provides opportunities to participate in various activities. In- duction for juniors and seniors is based on four qualifications: charac- ter, scholarship, leadership and ser- vice. The National Honor Society sponsored many activities benefitting the entire Student Body including tutoring students before semester exams and presenting the movies, Raisin in the Sun and To Kill a Mockingbird. x , J -I 4511. Anthony, moderator, Parme Kay Plancich, vice- prefectg and Kathy Viery, mission chairman assemble candy wreaths for Tijuana orphans. Sodalists Visit To achieve the Sodality aim of bring- ing Alverno girls closer to Jesus through Mary, Sodality members assume various spiritual and social undertakings during the year. First Saturday Masses and meetings bring the girls closer in a spiritual bond. Tijuana excursions to deliver clothes and food to the poor, trips to Five Acres, a nearby orphanage, and visits to rest homes, highlight the Sodality's apostolic activities. A SPECIAL FAVOR . . . Sodality members, Jeanette Hurst, Beth Eckhart and Mary Regas make a brief visit to the grotto shrine. I-IEAVE HO! . . . Diligent sophomores load a truck for Tijuana with clothing and toys. 124
