HANKINS Vice-President WAY BACK IN THE YEAR nineteen hundred and forty-five a battalion of eighty- seven soldiers, males and females alike, under the able leadership of General Lee Denner, established a beachhead at Freshmen Beach . They won this battle without much trouble and proceeded on to Sophomore Hill under Gen- eral Bob Schmitt, who now had increased his army to ninety-six. During this operation some of the soldiers were transferred to other battle stations and some were left behind as casualties of the Planegeom Tree , so at the beginning of the Junior River Battle Gen- eral Earlene Heaton had only eighty-two com- rades in her army. After much wear, tear, and struggle they came to the last stand of the battle. During the fight for Senior City they were led by General Bill Meixner, who started the battle with eighty-four soldiers. During this campaign several of the Gen- JI' 5 A EARLENE HEATOI Treasurer eral's men and women were transferred to the Battle of Matrimonyng however, the Spring of '49 should find seventy-nine soldiers ready for promotion, in high standing, after win- ning the long, hard Battle of Education at Alva High.
