From Fantasy to Reality Homecoming Queen candidates, and their escorts ore Jeanne Butler, escorted by Ricky Bollenboch. Donna Nordman, escorted by Joe Buchanan, and Borbora Kizzior, escorted by NkJsy Gregg The candidates seemed to be step- ping right out of fontosylond onto the field os the breeze rustled their billow- ing skirts and cascaded their hair in the wind. The night of homecoming was one filled with suspense, emotions, and the will power and determination to beat the Wolverines; but the highlight of the night wos the crowning of the 1979-60 homecoming queen of half- time. For the queen candidates, the five days were filled with anticipation ond preparation for the special moment ot halftime. To each one of the girls the excitement, the love ond the butterflies were oil worth the honor they felt in their hearts. Waiting for those magic words to echo from the press box, hearts were pounding, fingers were gripping the supportive arms of their escorts, ond then . . . Our 1979-80 Homecoming Queen is . . . Miss Joye Watson!” The moment hod come ond for Joye it wos o moment she wished she could hold on to forever. The crown wos presented by the returning 1978-79 A.H.S. Homecom- ing Queen. Miss Debbie English. The victory of the Bulldogs over the Shownee Wolverines interlocked the cli- max of homecoming week. That night oil the Altus fons In the stadium felt the emotion pocked into this traditional event.
