8 PEP RALLIES to boost the boys onward were centered around the new fountain in the courtyard of the main building. Cheers were lead by a new, larger pep squad and band. BULLDOG BOOSTERS included Band members. Pep Club, cheerleaders, twirlers, and the many fans that lined the bleachers at Hightower Memorial stadium for football games.

Honors earned through activities highlight year at AHS CARLOS DE KERNION, graduate of Mexico Institute of Science and Technology, assisted Mrs. Bob Rooker with advanced Spanish classes while he learned English. IMPORTANCE OF WORLD AFFAIRS is emphasized for Robert Hickerson, Phillip Olson, Bonnie O'Malley, Sandra Andrews, and Mike Hill, as they prepare to be AHS representatives at the first high school session of the Model United Nations at the University of Oklahoma. STEVE POWELL, winner of National Award for his Four H record book, was honored at a Chicago Banquet. CARLA SMITH, Ann Abernatny, and Kathy Herring begin routine that won AHS the Outstanding Twirler Award in the Regional Band Marching Contest here in October. 7

( 7ulldog desire to excel and progress in all fields was outwardly and obviously shown in the spirit with which the high school backed its sports teams throughout the year. Equally enthusiastic backing was given to the less obvious awards won by Altus students at district, state, and national academic levels.
