cglanioz- fgamf DIRECTED BY THREE CONDUCTERS THIS YEAR! Marching Band opened the l953-54 band season adding color duringhalt-time at our home foot- ball games. Leading the band were the drum majorettes pictured on the top of the next page. They are: fleft to rightj Judy Cox, Charlotte Warner, Sharon Warner, Leona Michael, and Nancy Smith. Due to the illness of Mr. Versteeg just before our Christmas concert, it became necessary for Mr. Kruetz to direct us. We were pleased that he was able to help in directing our band during the time that Mr. Versteeg was unable to be there. Mr. Versteea resigned at the end of the first semester on doctor's orders. Mr. Kever who is a graduate oi East High and Drake University, took over the baton to direct us for the last half of the year. New festival music provided us with a project for the last semester. -44-
