MR. JOSEPH N. MADDOCKS Principal ,Xxxlxlnul ltr im ilml Everything you have learned in the Altoona Senior High School will become an instrument of power because you know its use. You have learned to think, to inquire, to act, and to evaluate. You have learned to work with other people. You have learned to be confident and able. You should have learned your goal and to guide yourself accordingly. Remember, if you are to find rewarding satisfaction in your work and if your life is to be purpose- ful, rich, and of high achievement, you must continue to be a learning, growing person. E X , . twists nlml A national sales manager ofa large cor- poration stated recently that his iob was to energize people, to stimulate people to their best efforts. Here we try to energize our students by teaching them that the nec- essary ingredients for success are vision, courage, and faith-vision to see oppor- tunities, courage to work and struggle for worthwhile ends, and unbounded faith that the things we believe in and strive for will ultimately succeed. We sincerely hope that you have ac- quired a broad vision and are developing to the utmost your abilities and capacities. We trust you will move with resolution and insight toward a worthwhile goal. Best wishes for your success. MR. EDGAR J. BROOKS Assistant Principal

To the Class of '57 Recently I have observed a national consciousness of the need for conservation of our natural resources with which God has so abundantly blessed our nation. Along with this awareness comes a reali- zation that our youth constitutes our most precious natural resource. This human resource is also being wasted in that individuals are not utilizing their greatest potential abilities and apti- tudes. In this time of critical need for trained manpower, I earnestly pray that each of you in the Class of 1957 will have the vision, the wisdom, the courage to con- tinue to fully develop and wisely use every talent with which you are endowed.
