Mr. Meek MY- Clllgh Mr. Getz Mr. Hite Mr. Laughlin Board of Directors The Board of School Directors of the City of Altoona is organized by authority and under the provisions of the Constitution and laws of the Com- monwealth of Pennsylvania. The Board consists of nine members elected by the voters of the city for a term of six years each. The terms of office are so arranged that not more than three terms expire in any one year. The direc- tors serve without remuneration. On the first Mon- day of December of each year, the Board organizes by electing a president and a vice president. Regular meetings are held the first Monday of each month, adjgugned and special meetings are held Whenever nee e . The functions of the Board are fixed and con- trolled by state law fPennsylvania's School Codel. The more important items which require the atten- tion of the Board are: levying taxes for support of schools, authorizing expenditures, employing per- sonnel and fixing salaries, providing adequate school buildings, approving curriculum, and purchasing textbooks, furniture, and other supplies.
