kNUARN T. I» XA MAN OF THE YEAR? Traditionally TIME’S Man of the Year covers have been real individuals or a symbolic representation of a group of people. Several human can- didates might have represented 1982, but none symbolized the past year richly or more significant than a ma- chine: the computer. “Goodbye, Farewell And Amen” M A S H The cast and crew of M A S H is shutting down the Korean War on tele- vision after 11 years. This means goodbye to one of the most popular television series of 11 time. M A S H has been in the Top 10 for nine out of its 11 years on CBS. It has won the Peabody and Humanitas awards, many Golden Globes, Peoples Choice awards, and 12 Emmys. On Monday night, February 29, 1983, M ' A’S ' H ended with its 251 st episode, which lasted two and one half hours. Across the nation Monday night there were many “farewell to M ' A ' S ' H bashes” held in bars, living rooms, restaurants, auditoriums, and hospitals which simu- lated a mobile Army surgical hospital.
