MR. E. M. LEAMON, Assistant Superintendent Congratulations to those students who through their efforts contributed to the wholesome educational atmosphere of their high school. Best wishes to those who use their knowledge and abilities for the betterment of all mankind. MR. MACY PRUITT, Administrative Assistant in charge of Junior and Senior High School Curriculum. In every high school in the country there are students who have been rated high” in ability and low” in performance. This is unfortunate, be- cause our society needs both craftsmen and professional workers. There is no greater tragedy today than unused talents. MR. DEAN BROWNING, Administrative Assistant in charge of Vocational Education. Nothing so valuable is cheaper than courtesy. Courtesy is more than cheap. It’s free. It’s strange that, being free, it’s so rare. Let’s not cancel courtesy because of the lack of interest or dissent.

BOARD OF EDUCATION MR. ROBERT S. MINSKER President Many changes have taken place during the few years you have spent in hish school. The most historic and highly technological event of 2,000 years occurred when man landed on the moon and began its exploration. With great rapidity, also, sociological changes have taken place. In both our nation and in the outside world man continues to struggle lor more freedom lor the op- pressed and for assistance to those who, by American standards, are considered under-privileged. These events, as man strives to improve society and living conditions, present a purposeful challenge to all of us in the days ahead; but the challenge is even more directly to you young men and women who will graduate this year. You will have much influence both as individuals and as a group in determining the future of society and of the morals of our beloved country. Each of you has had the opportunity, provided by the generations ahead of you, to acquire a superior education. The responsibili- ty that now lies before you is to make the proper use of your education and knowledge for the benefit of all mankind. As you assume positions of leadership, may each of you have the knowledge, wisdom, patience, and integrity to apply your learn- ing to the creation of better communities where you reside, not only for your own children, but the generations to follow. This re- ponsibility will rest upon each of you now, and increasingly in the days to come. I congratulate each of you on your achievements thus far and humbly pray our Creator that your future years will be fruitful, and that your personal achievements will be rewarding both to you and your fellow citizens. 28
