BOARD OF EDUCATION Walter Wood, L. J. Miscgades, J. J. Beeby, R. H. Richards, President, M. W. Acker, Dr. H. E. Middleton, P. L. Ewing, Superintendent, Hugh Horstman, Secretary. PARMER L. EWING Superintendent Mr. Ewing came to Alton as Superintendent of Schools last August after 11 years as Superintendent of Schools at Highland. Mr. Ewing has had a very busy year of school work in addition to conquering a round of ill health. Many faculty changes have been made this year due to death of teachers in the system and changes brought about by the exigencies of a nation at war. Mr. Ewing was able to visit high school often enough that all of us were able to get acquainted with him. In his first year with us Mr. Ewing has shown a deep interest in the welfare of those in school. We arc glad to know that the Board of Education has renewed Mr. Ewing's contract for next school year.

C. C. HANNA Principal This school year Mr. Hanna has found many problems to occupy his time. The problems of war have been many— changes in office help, faculty, and student body have been frequent. Each change has required Mr. Hanna to give some time to its solution, and this he has done. They have been busy yet helpful to all those with whom they have come in contact. Their work has been made more difficult by the fact that they succeeded two experienced and successful workers— Dinsmorc Wood and Miss Carolyn Wempen. Congratulations upon a good start in vour new work.
