M-UCIC DEVELOPS MEW TALENTS AND ABfLTTTES The music department at AHS is an extensive department which provides students with an opportunity to develop and express their musical talents. The courses offered in music are chorus, girls' glee club, band, and fundamentals of music. In band, students play various instruments and various styles of music. They have selections in pop, jazz, overtures, and themes from Broadway musicals. Chorus and girls’ glee club also have a large selection of different types of music. Fundamentals of music is the study of composers, their works, and all basic knowledge of music, such as scales, notes, and keys. Chorus, girls' glee club, and band combined this year to present a Christmas cantata entitled, Love Transcending.

AUTO UECHANICe FREFAREG BOG FOR. FUTURE JOBS Mr. Bartholomew examines a school bus to make sure it is in good condition. Bob Frey and Chester Taylor discuss the correct procedure in fix- ing the motor. George Owens is proud of his mechanic ability. Boys at AHS greatly appreciate the auto me- chanics program. This class, instructed by Mr. Bartholomew, acquaints boys with all phases of mechanics. The boys learn from experience by working on buses, cars, and trucks. The boys in auto mechanics are ready to step into jobs at the end of this course. They will always remember the good training they received in the auto me- chanics department at AHS.

FfNE ARTS DEVELOP fMDMDUALS Jr. High art class express themselves through painting. An outlet for self-expression is essential in the development of individuals. AHS is proud of its well equipped art department which features, among other things, a kiln and a potter's wheel. Modern Dance was offered for the first time this year at AHS. Dance as well as art provides a means of creativity and self-expression. Mr. Micheal Violett - art and dance instructor. Esther Blankenship performs a dance of her own creation. 29
