math cuallbnqbs searching minds Mr. Jim Hower, matli instructor, uses his free hour to average students' grades. On Tuesday, March 10, the Annual H.S. Math- ematics Examination was given to math students and all other interested students. The purpose of this examination was to provide students with interesting, rewarding, and challenging problems that are with- in the realm of possibility for persons with back- grounds such as these students have. The student from AHS making the highest score on the examination was Phillip Colley. Students taking second and third places were Gary Dotson and James McGuire. Only one year of math is required at AHS, but wise students take as many math subjects as possible. They know that mathematics is a study in which a person must use his head in a logical pro- cess. The math classes offered at AH S are general math, Algebra I, Algebra II, geome- try, and trigonometry. All of these classes force a student to think for himself. Algebra II class listens as Mr. Hower gives the daily lecture.
