They also work with small motors and elec- trical appliances. A place for everything and everything in place is the motto for Mr. Bartholomew’s auto mechanic classes. Larry Richardson makes sure that this tool is in its proper place. Doing push ups is one way to stay in shape for physical fitness. Orville Cypret gets his daily exercise. 13

M-OnOM: WET»U6, WETWFMG, WE DO, With an ever-increasing ease of transportation and communication, it becomes more and more important for American citizens to know, not only the background of their own country, but also the culture of all countries of the world. Recognizing this need, Mrs. Gohn’s social studies classes are constantly taking strides in the direction of the understanding so necessary for today's universal problems. The beginner typists soon learn to handle their typewriters with ease. James McGuire and Phillip Johnson have mastered the first steps; speed will follow. The objective of physical education classes is to keep in shape for physical fitness. AHS's four PE teachers are on duty seeing that each of the 300 students gets his share. 12 Speech students conquer the fright which changes them to immobile statues when they first try to speak in public. Lynn Alford conquered that fear at last which has made her speak with a great deal of poise.

AWS CURRICULU U OFFERS VARIETY BETSY TAKES HER STORY TO STATE Upon receiving an Excellent rating at the district speech festival, Betsy took her short story to the State Festival May 2, where she received a Superior rating. Betsy prepared this story, Mark Twain's The Golden Arm for a class activity to the sixth grade. Seeing that the sixth graders like her story, she decided to enter it in competition. The senior high ensemble provided music to help raise school spirit. The wrestling class is something new - this year for A.H.S. The class includes Gary Potter, Cecil Gib- son, Robert Taylor, Junior Rice, and Winfred Smith. 14 cotircz I
