On August 23, 1944, a trout) of forty-four bewildered freshmen made their debut into Alton Klrh School. Kiss Frances Gohn took us under her winy and steered us to the sophomore fold. However, somewhere alon the way we lest Haston Alford, Chester Andrews, Louise Bailev, Donald Deth- row, James Owen Dotson, Clifton Harris, Harold Johnson, ba- bel Sanders, Helen Waggoner, and On le Clark. We rained four new members: Opal Bell, Olen Barton, Coal Terry, and Rorer Jolliff. $ $ I! Si ?! 11 Kiss Rovena Paschali and Kiss Mary Charles Vaughn were our sophomore sponsors. Aside from our two parties, the year was quite uneventful. $ 5 1 At last the time came for us to be juniors. Mrs. Esther Hardin and Mr. Amos KcMurtrey Piloted us through this year. We nlayed ball, had our parties, and had our junior- senior banquet. Traredy stalked into our class; Edward Johnson was killed during the holidays. The war was over now and the G. I. boys were coming back to school. Charles Brewer, L. T. Crask, and Burton Ralston joined our class. Before the year was out we lost Elsie Davis and Jim .Vocdrin-. Nadine had come to U3 from Tulsa. The long-awaited senior year arrived with forty-one of us to tell the tale. Mrs. Vaughn and Mr. Taylor took us in. Ermarrene Thompson,Maxine Barton, Mrs. Jolliff, Joe Nicholas, Bill CHarman, and Mary Frances Combs had joined our ranks. Cunid aimed his darts in our direction and Cllie Frances, Nadine, and Icie fell his victims. This year has been a continuous round it seems of rood times. -.Ye have furnished our quota of the drum corns. Stu- dent Council, basketball, volleyball, and softball teams, and county one-act nlay, as -well as editing the annual. V.'e are looking forward fco our senior play, hobo day, bacca- laureate, and--of course--graduation. Juniors, we are leaving the torch with you.
