V l 1 ',,,i,l,,,,, , Dear student body: In this half-way mark of the nineteenth century, we glance back- ward and marvel at the almost incredulous progress made since the turn of the century. Where do you come into this retrospection? How does it affect you? It is your task to take these contributions and use them to benefit humanity. In completing the next half of this glorious age, you will determine how effective these contributions shall be. You will meaf sure the worth of the United Nations, the A-Bomb, the H-Bomb, and numerous other scientific discoveries. If these instruments are used for peace and progress, you will have been a successful generation. If you dispel hatred with love, fear with confidence, force with rea- son. and distrust with faith in the eternal God, then you will have met the challenge and solved the problem. You will have bequeathed to posterity a heritage dedicated to the principle of understanding, loving, and appreciating each other in a world of change and adjust- ments. May all of you, my student friends, in your sphere of life's acti- vities, wherever it may be, dedicate yourselves to this principle of worthy and useful living. Sincerely,
