Students Become One One of the most important activities of a Catholic School is celebrating the faith. Althoff often shares together in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Opening School Mass extends a warm welcome back for both students and faculty. Also, both the students and faculty gather together for a Thanksgiving mass. Many special occasions center around the mass, including the Freshman — Mother Mass early in the year, the Senior — Parents Mass in May, and the new Class Masses held throughout the year. Most holidays and important events are celebrated this way. Always the Althoff family participates together to share this important aspect of school life. The chorus and band members provide beautiful music, while students and faculty members do the readings, offertory, and assisting. By celebrating and rejoicing together, the Althoff community succeeds in bringing themselves closer to each other and, more importantly, to the Lord. Sr. Olivia distributes the Eucharist to Beth. The Althoff family celebrates together. Students attentively listen to the homily. Students partake of the Body of Christ. 13

Freshmen Celebrate On September 12, 1985, the Freshmen class and their mothers attended a special mass at St. Henry ' s Church. Father David Voelker celebrated the mass. Afterwards, everyone walked back to the Althoff Cafeteria to enjoy the continen¬ tal breakfast and to socialize. When everyone finished eating, Mr. Bruce Elser introduced the candidates for Freshman offices. Both the students and mothers enjoyed the morning ' s activities. Students and mothers enjoy breakfast. Togetherness is what it is all about. Psst! What ya lookin ' at? Ladies enjoy a lovely breakfast. Fr. Dave celebrates the Eucharist. 12

Crusaders Show Spirit The Homecoming Week was an ex¬ citing time in which the whole school participated. It started on Tuesday with a dress-up day and an all-school mass. Wednesday was Farmer Day, and the students came to school look¬ ing like they had just come out of the fields. On Thursday, the school showed its support for the Cardinals by coming dressed in everything red, ranging from hats to shoes. Friday was class-distinc¬ tion day, which is probably one of the favorites. It was a great week and a good way to achieve the school spirit needed to win the Homecoming game. Drama Club shows off its creativity for second place. The sophomore class displays its school pride. Amy Zittel and a fellow Cardinal fan pose with their car. 14
